Another Club Card
Here is the second card we did on Monday night. I love this paper, Love Letter, and this card is perfect for Valentine's, or for a number of other occasions just by changing the sentiment.

Valentine's Decorations
I wanted to do a fun Valentine's banner with my daughter, so I thought of the Heart punch by Stampin' Up!. We started punching and I quickly realized that this wasn't as big as I had imagined. So I traced a bunch of larger hearts onto cardstock, and she cut them out. Blue, red, kraft and purple. Most of the purple ones got added on the end because she said, "I don't think girl colours should be added in beside the boy colours." Whatever child, it is your banner!!
It goes all along one wall just below the ceiling in her bedroom. She is very proud of it, and she strung the hearts onto the red grosgrain ribbon all by herself!
Elise took a scrap from my stamping room and said, "Mom, I need you to write on this for me. Put, 'I love you the best Jesus' on here and then I'm going to add it to my heart banner." Well, be still my heart, what a little nugget! So she picked the red heart for it to go on, and then declared the banner complete!
Mine is not nearly as impressive, but I still decided to finish the one I started because I had all those little hearts punched out of beautiful patterned paper, so I didn't want them to go to waste.
Since it was smaller than I originally envisioned, I put it in the bathroom and not in my front entry way. I am thinking some decorated hearts on the pegs of my "Bathroom" sign will finish off the decorations in this bathroom. I changed out the candles for some pink ones. My goal is to paint this little main floor bathroom before too much more time passes. I would like it to be blue. A nice peaceful light blue. That's part of the reason I'm not too concerned about putting more pinholes in the wall!

It was a fun little project, and it makes me want to do a larger pennant style banner. Maybe even out of fabric! Oh, the possibilities are endless!!!!

What do you get when.....
You give a little girl an owl punch and allow her free reign of the scrap drawers? You get a whole lot of little paper owls!!! Elise (my 4 year old) had a great time punching and gluing owls this morning. She put them all in a little treasure box for safe keeping and said she is going to play with them lots!
Owl punch is item # 118074
P.S. I promise I will make some creations with this punch soon, myself, and post them... but then again, maybe I should let Elise make some of the samples to post on here - I think she did pretty well, and she's only four :)

Arrrr... Shiver Me Timbers!
Last night, Todd's school put on a play called "Pirates!" It was awesome. I say "Todd's School" because even though Scott goes to the same school, his grade was not involved. The school does a play every year, but the participates alternate between grades k, 4 & 5 one year for a Spring Musical, then grades 1,2,3 the following year for a Christmas musical. Next year, the boys will both be in the musical together.
The stage curtain was the Jolly Roger before the show started.

The kindergarten kids were the Queen's parrots, and they were very darling! I helped make the parrot hats. The eyes are even made with my SU! circle punches!! All 120 of them :)
I love all the colour on the stage!

The kindergarten kids stole the show... no question! Here they are doing the bird dance. It made for a LOT of colour flashing around on the stage. The Queen in the play had quite an air about her and she said, "Start the music, it relaxes me... dance parrots, dance!" Then they got up and did this. It was totally adorable! Of course, it helped that one of the little parrots on stage was my own little boy :) He did so well... I think he quite enjoyed his time on the stage - perhaps there's a little of me in him!!
Todd is in the green :)

Cupcakes anyone?!
Tonight was my open house, and I had a great time with the ladies that came out. Thanks everyone who came!!
There is a great new stamp set with cupcakes that we used for our make and take. I'll show the make and take projects later, but for now I'm going to show you some of the snacks :) I made some carrot cake cupcakes, and used my "cupcakes" wheel to make little toppers for each one.

A variety of circle punch sizes were used to make these layers. The cupcakes were stamped in black, and coloured in with SU! markers.

Punchy combo!
One of the things I love about Stampin' Up! is how there are so many products that are made to fit together and coordinate on projects.
Check out this set "Totally Tabs," and the coordinating "Round Tab" punch.

set of 4 for $18.55, Round tab punch is only $19.48
Tip: Always turn your punches so the bottom faces you... that way you can always see exactly what you are punching out! Especially useful if you are trying to get a stamped image to fit within your punch!

Baby Card
Here's a really simple card we made at my Sale-a-Bration Delights class a couple weeks ago. We punched several of the scallop circles out and layered them to create faux chipboard. And the patterned paper is from the SU! Level 1 Hostess paper pack in Apricot Appeal. The stamp is stamped in 2 colours... first the apricot then the celery, and we cut out the apricot moon and glued it on the main piece. Add some ribbon and a bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter, adhered with a 2-way glue pen, and we were done.

Stamping Class
Today I had a stamping class at my house and we made a mini scrapbook/journal using the On Board Art Journal in the SU! catalogue. Everyone did a great job. The title I chose was "What Makes Me Smile" but I gave the option to make your title more personalized. Other choices were:
- Live Laugh Love
- Things I love
- Special People, Special Smiles,
- Moments in my life
I might have missed one or two, so if you had a different title and want to tell me, leave a comment and I will add it!
When I was at Regionals in April we learned some great tricks with this journal to make pockets. Here are a couple shots of the journal, I won't show you every page, though!
book cover
top and bottom side pockets
tags in pockets
folded pocket with scalloped edge
oval photo matte
When I get the pictures printed from Church Ladies Retreat, I want to make another journal like this using the "Out and About" scrappin' kit.

Simple Scallops
There are several ways to use punches to create a scalloped edge... here is one simple way that I saw at Regionls in April.
Here's the front of a 6X6 page that we did using Double Line Doodles (available in the Fall/Winter SU! Collections on July 1st).

And to see the secret to making this scalloped edge, check out the back of the page..... so simple, eh? I love it! You can make them in any size you want, as long as you have the circle punch that size.

Over the next little while I will show other fun uses for punches.
