Scrapbooking with kids....

I had 3 of my friend's kids here for the day... after workbooks, outside time, lunch, snacks, reading time, and general playtime... I thought it might be fun to make little "All About Me" scrapbooks. I had planned to do this as a kids' class awhile back, but with people having to drop out due to illness, and other reasons, the class got cancelled. I used up most of the supplies on other projects, but I still had 5 of each page title (6 different titles throughout the book, including the cover). Perfect for my 2 boys, and the additional 3 kids... so after lunch I said I had a project. Elise went down for a nap and the rest of us got busy scrapbooking! There are no pictures in them yet, but those will come. Here are Scott and Todd working on their books, and the finished products at the bottom! They had a hoot... and what a great way to use up all the bits and pieces from retired scrappin' kits!!!

Class Card

Here is one more project that we did at my Mother-Daughter class on May 3rd. I haven't posted it yet, and since I haven't done anything in awhile, I thought it would be good to add now. The background is stamped with the Canvas set, and the petals are made with the 2 sizes of SU! oval punches.

More Mayflowers

Here are a few of the other projects we did at my Mayflowers class last week.

This card uses the Spring Solitude hostess bundle from the current catalogue. There are half pearls from the Pretties Kit attached with glue dots.

This card is done using the "Faux Metal" technique. Heat layer upon layer of embossing powder, then while it is really hot, press the stamp (inked in Versamark to protect the rubber) carefully, but firmly, down.

This one uses Faux Chipboard. (layers of the same punch glued together). And the black flower is a rubon.

Just for Fun!

Todd thought of this all on his own... I thought it was pretty creative!

Then he ate his name! I think it tasted so good because he knew what it spelled! He said, "this is the best cucumber cookie ever!!!" He's mostly in his own little world, but when he lets us in for a quick minute, it is usually something charming!

Our trip to Costco

I don't know why, but a sight as we entered the Costco parking lot the other night made me seriously laugh out loud! Not only did this family have a van that they were stocking full of stuff... they had brought a utility trailer. Nothing like a one-stop-shop! You should have seen the food they packed in there. Wow! I got Steve to slow down so I could take the picture, but when I asked him to circle around so I could get a better shot, he said that was a bit tacky and he refused!!!!!!

If you didn't find what you were looking for at Costco, chances are this family bought it before you got there:

Then this morning, Elise took a liking to the mango juice we bought. She had a great time stacking it, filling a jar with the cans, and begging for some. So after I took a couple cute shots of her, I called the boys and we all had some Mango juice... one of our favourite Costco items :)

Mother's Day

Last Sunday was Mother's Day but we celebrated all weekend!... I got Chinese Food on Friday night, Roses and an ice-cap on Saturday. Then on Sunday we went to church and I sang, and 5 different ladies spoke in each service... it was wonderful. After church I got my cards and we spent the evening with Steve's family. And to top it all off.... when we got home, we watched the Survivor finale and reunion show (but I gotta say I was less than impressed with the outcome of this season's Survivor, but the series on a whole was probably our favourite).

Here are my beautiful roses from Steve and the carnation from church that all the moms got!

And here is just one of the wonderful reasons I am privileged to be called MOM!!!

Future McD's employees???

A couple weeks ago Steve picked up some dinner at McD's and the kids got some pretty creative toys in their happy meals... this was one of them - the drive-thru headset. Now, talk about hours of entertainment and video footage! Even Steve took a turn as the drive-thru empoyee, but I don't know if he'd appreciate me posting his rendition of "would you like fries with that?!!!!"

Club Pages

Here are the pages that we did at my scrapbooking club on Friday night. Pretty simple, but I liked this colour combo. We added some hodgepodge hardware and the title was "a few of my favourite things." The scalloped edge is created by punching out 12 1" circles and attaching them behind the title strip. The journaling box is from the Sweet Celebrations stamp set.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all the special ladies in my life, including mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends..... have a great day!

Playin' Hard!

While Steve and his dad planted two lines of hedges this afternoon, Elise stayed outside and played. She said, "I help Gampa" and she had her little shovel and bucket and helped dig dirt and cover the root balls. I love this pic of her that I just put as my blog header, but I should tell you that under her nose is just dirt from playing hard! I tried to get her to let me wipe it off so I could take another pic, but she HATES having her face washed! So, here it is... dirt and all! But I still love her expression, and maybe someday I'll be able to brush that out in an editing program!

Skirt and gumboots... kind of reminds me of one of her ancestors!! ....(not me :)

Workin' Hard!

Here's a picture of Steve outstanding in his field! This morning the boys and Steve went to get a load of top soil (they actually bought potting mix because it was the same price) and are spreading it out to plant some new shrubs this afternoon. The soil in our subdivision is terrible... actually the topsoil is almost non-existent... everything is on clay, so for the first time in his life, he had a hedge die on him. He won't let that happen again!

The kids are having a hoot "helping" and Elise is learning how to ride a trike.

I guess Todd is the chief sweeper because he's been running around all morning getting rid of any dirt that lands on the road or sidewalk. He gets that from Steve!!!
