Thanks!

Thanks so much to everyone that was involved in our Spring Craft and Craft Supplies Sale!!! And to Cindy for the great idea of doing it in the first place.... and of course, we couldn't have pulled it off at all without all the great customers that came out and made purchases!!!! Stay tuned for our Fall Sale where we will do the same sort of thing - with a focus on Christmas gift ideas as well.

Waiting at the Ferry

If I had to use the ferry to commute to work every day or every week, I can see how it would quickly lose its novelty. But for now, riding the ferries every 2 months or so, they're not so bad. And a sunny day sure helps to make the wait even better!

This is a first for us..... and here's how the conversation went:

me: "we have to pay for Scott now because he's 5, but Elise and Todd are still free."

Todd: "I'm not free!"

me: "Yes you are, you and Elise are both free."

Todd (a little more loudly): "I'm NOT FREE, I'm FOUR!"

Steve loves to get right in there and play on the playground!

THIS is what I'm doing right now.....

Sorting through a multitude of boxes that the man-in-brown just delivered to my door. He carried this whole stack at once!!!!!!

Found a card!

I just thought about this card... it was one I demonstrated at a workshop this month, and it was a make and take at another workshop. I don't think I've posted it yet, so even though I haven't stamped this week, I'm excited to have something to show you!!!

I used Groovy Guava paper, Ginger blossoms designer paper, and chocolate chip and Groovy Guava ink.

Tart and Tangy

I love this little set from the new SU! mini catalogue. Here are a couple projects with it - these are both done using markers directly onto the stamps.

This was a make and take from Kerry's last downline meeting... It is with the scratch 'n sniff technique (if you want to learn that technique, make sure you sign up for my pre-buy class on April 30th) Card size: 3X3

This card is a standard size (4 1/4" X 5 1/2") Don't you just love the Summer Picnic designer paper?! The "thank you" sentiment is from the "A Perfect Day" rub-ons.

Baby Card

Here's a really simple card we made at my Sale-a-Bration Delights class a couple weeks ago. We punched several of the scallop circles out and layered them to create faux chipboard. And the patterned paper is from the SU! Level 1 Hostess paper pack in Apricot Appeal. The stamp is stamped in 2 colours... first the apricot then the celery, and we cut out the apricot moon and glued it on the main piece. Add some ribbon and a bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter, adhered with a 2-way glue pen, and we were done.

Scott is FIVE !!!

Unreal... they always say it will happen - that the years will fly by, and before you know it your kids will be all grown up.... but it is happening already! Now I have a five year old.

Here's a recap on our day. We had a little party for Scotty and he had a few little friends over. Over a month ago he said he wanted a "Toy Story" party... but do you think I could find anything Toy Story related in the stores when I looked this last week? Nope... so what do you do when you can't find the right theme on party supplies??? You make them!

Napkins stamped with the dinosaur from a retired SU! set called Toy Box....

"Pin the Tail on Rex" - a game I made up this morning, and the kids loved it!!!

Before:
After!!
And you get the kids to colour pictures from the movie printed from your computer!

Get a few of the toys that are in Toy Story and have them out for the kids to play with after they watch the movie!!!!

Scott and Todd playing with some new toys from the neighbour:

Elise didn't make it through dinner...

All in all, a fun but ever so exhausting day! The kids are all in bed asleep and it's not even 7:30 yet!!!!

Happy Birthday Todd!

Well, now I have 2 four-year-olds!!! (only for 2 weeks and then Scott will turn 5). I was babysitting my friend's 3 kids this morning, so we made it into Todd's party!!! We coloured the castle (see previous post - but I'm not allowed to post it again yet because they aren't finished) watched Toy Story 2, ate hotdogs and chips, and had this cake. I made the cake last night after the kids were in bed, but I asked Todd what he wanted his birthday cake to look like... He said, "Well, birthday cakes should be round. And I want the Sheriff to be in the middle of it, with a bunch of Chick Hicks cars going around the sheriff!" Soooo - this is it!!! His Sheriff car was almost too big for the top of the cake, but that's what he wanted, so I washed it up and he got to stick it on! And the Chick Hicks cars are printed from my computer, and I put a couple layers of clear packing tape on them and stuck a straw on the back! The kids each took one of these cars home in their goodie bag.

The kids all got these Sheriff badges while they were watching the movie. So I guess we have kind of mixed in 2 sheriff stories here, but the kids play with all their toys together even if they are from differnt movies!!!

Todd's birthday date

Tomorrow is Todd's birthday, so today he got to go on a date with Grandma and Grandpa. They had waffles for lunch (with jam and ice cream! What a lucky almost 4 year old!). And then he got to open his present which was a very cool hockey net! He LOVES hockey! Then they went to play Jungle Mini Golf, which Todd called "mini hockey!" Makes sense, doesn't it?

Todd and Grandma

He had a great day, and I asked him - as he almost fell asleep tonight at supper - if Grandma and Grandpa tuckered him out... he said no, he tuckered them out! Grandpa agreed!

So, that meant that I got to have a date today with Scotty, which was so much fun! Kids are so easy when you have them one on one!!! We went shopping and found birthday cake supplies, and presents, and we found this... of course, when it came in the box it was unassembled, so Steve and I just had a hoot putting it together... Steve commented that we probably shouldn't apply to do The Amazing Race together, because we have different ideas of how to follow instructions!!!! But, it doesn't matter - look how cool this castle is!!! And the whole idea behind it is that the kids colour it in. I love it! So when some friends come over tomorrow that is what they are going to do!!! I will post the finished product as well!

Club Pages

Here is the layout we did this month with my scrapbook clubs. I am going to put a picture of myself either stamping or scrapbooking on the photo space on the first page. It is always great to get a little me time, or time out from the day-to-day.. whether in retreat, or relaxation form, we all benefit from rest, and activities that help us feel refreshed...

So, what is your activity? Reading, sports, crafting? I'd love to hear how you spend your "Me Time!" The pics on the right hand page show me at the beach in White Rock; playing the piano on my 27th birthday at Fort Langley; and of course.... the results of a pedicure that Leanne treated me to a few days before Elise was born! (notice the tanlines on my feet :)

The main colour is Almost Amethyst, and the accent colours are Certainly Celery, black and vellum. It is a double embossed project, simply meaning that there is heat embossing as well as dry embossing on these pages.

Cars Cars Cars

Can you see his organizational skills? He worked very hard to get these cars just right this morning, and then they all had races in colour groups!

Sympathy Card

I just wanted to share this beautiful card that my friend Sue sent out this week. It is a sympathy card she made for me because my Grandpa died. On the inside it is stamped with, "Whatever happens, God is there to keep you safe within his care." Thanks Sue, it's so beautiful.

We love Leap Frog!

The boys each got "My First Leap Pad" for Christmas along with a plethora of games. So Elise got the hand-me-down Leap Frog Baby and all the games for that. They are creating quite the sound combo right now as the 3 of them play their 3 different "computers" on the couch. I had to share a picture! (Todd's a bit sad because just before this he got kicked out of the theatre where Steve is watching the Superbowl... he was acting out all the plays and it got to be a bit much!!!)
